How to get to Cap de Nice ? Visit the coastal path on Mont Boron between Nice and Villefranche-sur-Mer

Sunset at Cap de Nice on Mont Boron between Nice and Villefranche-sur-Mer

Often forgotten, Cap de Nice is one of the most historic places to visit. A blend of land and sea, where the nature of the Côte d'Azur coastline blends with the superb view of the Baie des Anges.

In this short article, we'll show you the way to this coastal trail, which is located on the famous Mont Boron, near Nice and Villefranche-sur-Mer.

Cap de Nice lies to the north between Nice and Villefranche-sur-Mer. It is a must for sea lovers and hikers alike. This location offers a perfect balance between the calm of nature and the proximity of the city, making hiking enjoyable and easy to access. Here's how to get to the Mont Boron coastline.

Itinerary from Nice

Getting to the port of Nice

The easiest way is to leave from the port of Nice. If you want to go to the port of Nice, you have several options:

  • On foot, continuing along the Promenade des Anglais towards the #ILoveNice. The path is really pleasant and you can discover the Rauba-Capeux monument, carved into the mountain.
  • Via streetcar line 2 (towards "Port Lympia"). The port is the last streetcar stop.

Head for the coastal path

Once you've reached the streetcar stop at the end of the harbor, it's just a short walk to the "Port Lympia Quai" bus stop. From here, take bus 98 in the direction of "Gustavin / Parc Vigier".

In this little electric bus, don't forget to enjoy the view! This route along the coast, through the Mont Boron district (a famous residential area of Nice), between the mountains and the turquoise water, will not leave you indifferent!

Exit at the "Villa la Côte" stop, and you'll arrive at the "Jardin Felix Rainaud". After a few steps and a flight of stairs, you'll be able to enjoy the start of the promenade.

Trip cost

This bus journey costs the same as a regular bus ticket on the Nice network. If you've used the streetcar to get to the port before, you won't have to pay for an extra journey. If you don't have a bus ticket, you can buy one from the automatic ticket machines at the port.

Itinerary from Villefranche-sur-Mer

There is also a bus from Villefranche-sur-Mer to Cap de Nice. You can take bus 15 towards "Lycée Massena" from the "Octroi" stop behind the Antoine Bonifaci stadium.

Once on the 15 bus, you can get off at the "Chateau de l'Anglais" stop, and the path will be a little further on your left (there are a few steps).

Once again, this bus is served by the Ligne Azur network (the same as in Nice). A simple ticket will get you there.

What Cap de Nice looks like

Whether you like nature and blue waters, the beach, beautiful buildings, beautiful landscapes, walks on rocky paths, the sea or wide open spaces, Cap de Nice is sure to surprise you! But what's most impressive is the separation between nature (and the sound of the water) and the impressive view of the Bay of Angels! This trail is really close to Nice: in less than 20 minutes, you go from the city to nature.

As you walk along the path and rocks, between two staircases, you'll discover numerous villas. Mont Boron is a well-known residential area, and some of the villas have belonged or are owned by famous stars, including Elton Jon.

As you move along the promenade, you'll catch a glimpse of the island of Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat, and if you continue to the end of the route, you'll also catch a glimpse of the town of Villefranche. There's no real end to the trail, because if you get back on the road, you'll arrive at the Villefranche-sur-Mer coastal path.

Along the way, you'll come across an impressive palace (the Palais Maeterlinck), so famous and grandiose, you won't want to miss it! It's located in front of Monaco's historic Boulevard Princesse Grace (depending on the location, you may not be able to see this boulevard).

Stand-up paddling at Cap de Nice

In summer, this is a great place for stand-up paddling. There are several beaches where you can either swim or drop anchor. As the water is relatively calm depending on the day of the year, you'll be able to discover this cape in a whole new way!
